Turn your draft manuscript into a submission-worthy paper

Turn your draft manuscript into a submission-worthy paper

A scientific manuscript writing workshop with the theme “Turn your draft manuscript into a submission-worthy paper’ was held on 28-29th Nov. 2017 at the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM), Universiti Sains Malaysia with the participation of all lecturers and postgraduate students. Prof. Dr. Bassim H.Hameed from the School of Chemical Engineering was invited to provide participants with a systematic insight into the key elements of an excellent manuscript.

Congratulations! Norhaslinda Nasuha successfully defended her PhD viva

Norhaslinda Nasuha was successfully defended her PhD viva on 12 July 2017 with minor correction and submitted Final Thesis on 14 August 2017. Nasuha worked under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bassim H. Hameed, leader of the Reaction Engineering & Adsorption (READ) group, School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and her thesis entitled: Preparation and Characterization of Efficient and Reusable Iron Based-Silica Oxide Catalysts for Dark, UV and Visible Light-Assisted Fenton-Like Degradation of Reactive Black 5, Acid Blue 29 and Methylene Blue. Norhaslinda published the following two articles in ISI-indexed journals:

Publications:
1.      Nasuha, N., Ismail, S., Hameed, B. H. (2016). Activated electric arc furnace slag as an efficient and reusable heterogeneous Fenton-like catalyst for the degradation of Reactive Black 5. Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 67, 235-243.

2.      Nasuha, N., Ismail, S., Hameed, B. H. (2017). Activated electric arc furnace slag as an effective and reusable Fenton-like catalyst for the photodegradation of methylene blue and acid blue 29. Journal of Environmental Management, 196, 323–329.

Congratulations to Dr. Patrick on his convocation

Congratulations to Patrick on his convocation

Congratulations to Dr. okoye ugochukwu on his convocation. Patrick is Reaction and Adsorption Engineering group member (READ) at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He worked under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bassim H. Hameed on “the development and characterization of reusable heterogeneous catalysts for glycerol upgrading to fine chemicals”. In recognition of his research skills, he was awarded the prestigious USM fellowship during his study. Dr. Patrick showed a great diligence and extensive knowledge capacity related to his field of research. Thus, he published over five articles in top ISI-indexed journals within 2.5 years of his Ph.D. study. His thesis was nominated for Universiti Sains Malaysia best thesis award from School of Chemical Engineering.
